At Kreiva this week it is the end of the Magic + Miracles exhibition, the final exhibition of 2023. It also marks the first six months of Kreiva being open so I’m looking back at what has happened this year:
The gallery opened in July with the New Beginnings exhibition which featured eighteen brilliant artists who entered a diverse mix of work representing the theme of New Beginnings. The gallery held an opening night which was well attended, very exciting and great fun!
In August I was delighted to take part in the Bridlington Open Studios which we had scheduled originally for April 2020. Having the gallery meant I could share the space with the fantastic printmaker Dr Emma Powell. We had a busy couple of weekends and enjoyed meeting all the visitors and chatting to a stream of interested and interesting people.
People + Place came next in September. This is the biggest exhibition so far with 35 artworks. It contained some great portraits and landscapes as well as more abstract pieces.
In October I exhibited my large bright abstract canvases alongside miniature ones. I also created a charity exhibition for CMT awareness month. CMTuk is the charity for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a condition which runs in my family, it was great to collaborate with the charity who shared my promotion of them on their social media too. It is a little known syndrome so it was good to get the word out.
This brings me to Magic + Miracles which finishes today, it has been a beautiful collection of inspiring work from abstract to photography to textiles. Since it went up the gallery has sprouted tinsel, gold stars and a small tree. All the more magical.
When visiting Kreiva, people comment on the lovely mix of styles and techniques in each exhibition. Because the exhibitions are curated on a theme, it allows for this diversity of art processes because the theme runs through all the selected artwork.
A big thank you to all the artists who have chosen to exhibit with Kreiva so far.
News coming soon for the first exhibition of 2024….
This week the gallery is profiling three artists who have taken part in three different exhibitions. Read on to hear their stories and see their art.
