Hello,
This week, if I’m being completely honest, has been chaos. Organised and lovely chaos. I have been in my element with new work going on in the studio while I am taking down the previous artworks. What a luxury to be able to work on a canvas and then package up the beautiful artworks from the exhibition while that part of my painting is drying! Work in progress….
As I’m working on large canvases, I removed the art from the small gallery first and have turned it into a temporary studio extension. The main gallery is organised in that as the art is coming down, it is getting packaged up immediately, so some of it has been collected, some of it is in the gallery wrapped up, some of it is still on the wall with the packaging ready in front of it.
You could be forgiven for thinking it looks disorganised, but I know exactly which packaging belongs to which artwork, I know who is collecting their work and when. I know which pieces are being collected by courier and when as well as the ones going with Royal Mail. This happy magic is punctuated by visits from collecting artists which involve some lovely and interesting conversations as well as receiving phone calls from people who would like to submit to the next show and have questions.
I do question sometimes why I thought taking over and running a gallery on my own when there were four people managing the previous gallery here was a good idea.
It was the only option I had at the time and I am so glad that I took it.
Coming up in November/December is the next group exhibition Magic + Miracles. You can find out all the details and submit your work HERE.
In January I’m offering the gallery for free to an artist or group of artists who want to put on an exhibition which will raise money and awareness for a charity. The artist(s) will be responsible for hanging and taking down the work - or I can do it for an agreed fee. The gallery will take 20% commission instead of the usual 30%. a minimum of 50% of the price of any sales after commission must be donated to your charity. Expressions of interest can be emailed to hello@kreivagallery.com
This weeks feature is on another three artists selected at random with the online random number generator, which has chosen three artists who are very different from one another and each of whom has a wonderful story and a unique creative talent.
