I’m writing this in the studio behind the gallery. As I look out through the windows from my desk in the back to the windows in the front, the windows are blurry with rain, it hammers on the flat roof above me, the wind whips at the back door. I remind myself yet again that it would be warmer in here if I put a curtain up in front it.
Only this morning I pointed out how beautiful the blossom looked on the trees on the way to school with my son. He is ten, so even if he agreed with me he wouldn’t say so! I love a bit of wild weather but today it started out sunny and descended into storm.
This is one of the reasons I began the virtual gallery. It can be viewed from anywhere in the world from the comfort of your nice warm and dry home. What I like about it isn’t just that the gallery is online - there are many online galleries - it is the fact it exists online and in the physical.
If you happen to be someone who is browsing the internet with the view to buying a painting for your newly decorated hallway, for example. Maybe you live in the Yorkshire region. You see the virtual gallery and all those beautiful optimistic signs of spring speak to you and you can picture your hallway with a lovely floral scene or a bird singing on the wall. It might be raining outside but your weather app tells you that Saturday is going to be warmer and dry. The signs of spring remind you that winter is nearly over. Now a weekend or a day trip to Bridlington seems a great idea, you come to visit the gallery and see the work in reality and find the perfect addition to your hall. You pay the deposit and enjoy a walk on the adjacent beach before heading to a restaurant to end a wonderful day.
If you are someone browsing the internet with a view to buying a painting for your newly decorated hallway and you are not able to get to Bridlington to view it, you can make an appointment with the gallery to view it in more detail over zoom. You can pay through a number of different options and wait for it to be delivered in a few weeks time.
Some recent visitors to the gallery, in fact most visitors to the gallery, have said how lovely it is to be able to actually view the real thing, to see the art as a collection and how nice it is to see such a variety of different styles and techniques side by side in a collection with a theme. At Kreiva you get the best of both worlds!
Here is the link to the virtual gallery, you can enjoy viewing the exhibition or share it with those who might enjoy it (that’s everyone!) or use it on your social media.
